Two people from Jefferson were recently arrested for allegedly possessing drugs.
According to court documents, an investigation started in June of 2023 when an individual agreed to work with the Jefferson Police Department to purchase drugs. A drug deal happened where 40-year-old Rebecca Schubert was allegedly picking up marijuana from 38-year-old Jesse Kniffin, which was verified to be marijuana.
Court documents show that police then executed a search warrant on July 14th at Kniffin and 25-year-old Harmony Thompson’s residence in the 300 block of South Walnut Street. No one was home when police identified themselves and that they had a warrant. The front door was kicked in and officers found several drug-related items. Officers also found Kniffin at his place of employment and with the search warrant, took his cell phone and searched his vehicle.
The drug-related items were submitted to the Criminalistics Laboratory and results were received on February 1st that were positive for marijuana and several prescription medications that did not belong to Kniffin or Thompson.
Kniffin was arrested and charged with three Class D Felonies for possession of a controlled substance violation, two serious misdemeanors for his first offense for possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of prescription drugs, and a simple misdemeanor for possession of drug paraphernalia. Thompson was also arrested and charged with a Class D Felony for possession of a controlled substance violation, two serious misdemeanors for his first offense for possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of prescription drugs, and a simple misdemeanor for possession of drug paraphernalia.
They were both booked into the Greene County Jail. Schubert had previously been arrested and faces charges of two Class D Felonies for her third or subsequent offense for possession of a controlled substance violation, three serious misdemeanors for her first offense for possession of marijuana and a simple misdemeanor for possession of drug paraphernalia.
