The Guthrie County Iowa State University Extension and Outreach has a few programs planned to happen at the Panora Public Library.

Program Director Meghan McBride says that on February 21st they will be holding one of their Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) programs at the library, by having individuals make LEGO balloon cars. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio this is a program that’s been done at other libraries have had great attendance for the events.

“I got a lot of interest in these programs when I’ve done them at Stuart and Menlo, so I thought just to see if, you know, some of the Panora, maybe if Guthrie (Center) would be interested in the programs as well. We’re just looking to bring the STEM challenges to the different county locations.”

The second program that they’re holding at the library isn’t until March, but is another STEM favorite. McBride says that their program teaching individuals about drones and how to operate them has seen much success as well, and that she looks forward to teaching more people about them.
