Churdan home fire
Two structure fires that happened in 2023 in Greene County are deemed “undetermined.”
Greene County Sheriff Jack Williams, who is also the fire investigator for the county, tells Raccoon Valley Radio the State Fire Marshall’s Office assisted in the investigation of two suspicious house fires. The first fire took place on September 29th at 2050 190th Street, near Paton. A cattle barn and corn crib were destroyed and according to the Greene County Assessor’s Real Estate search website, the property belongs to the Boert Family Trust.
The second was on October 2nd at 802 Sand Street in Churdan, where the home was a total loss, and the County Assessor’s Real Estate search website says the home is owned by Connor Groves. Williams says no one was on the property for either incident.
Williams says after consultation and assistance from the State Fire Marshall’s Office, both fires have been identified as “undetermined” for what caused each incident. Williams adds, there is nothing further that will be investigated at this time.
