The Guthrie County Iowa State University Extension and Outreach has a fun event they’ll be hosting this month.
Youth Coordinator Rachel Blum says that they will be holding a Farm Animal Education Program, and youth from around the county are all invited to come and learn about farm animals. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio what they will cover in the program.
“Overall, we’re just going to kind of go into in depth of different animals on the farm, maybe go into the meat cuts for cattle, lambs, pigs, and then also we’ll kind of incorporate (the) nutrition side of things, and we’re going to have a little ration. We’re going to create our own ration with our trail mix snacks.”
Blum mentions that the reason she wanted to do this program was because she comes from a farming background, and loves teaching about it. The program will be held February 16th at the Extension from 9am to noon, and has a $5 attendance fee.
