A valentine favorite is returning with the Greene County 4-H Young Leaders.

Greene County ISU Extension 4-H and Youth Coordinator Samantha Hardaway says the Young Leaders fundraiser is the popular chocolate covered strawberries. Hardaway tells Raccoon Valley Radio what the Young Leaders use the proceeds from this fundraiser on in the past.

“The Young Leaders use this money to support just different things in the (Greene County) fair. Last year, they got a new table and fan for the livestock office at (the) fair(grounds). So they man that office during the (county) fair hours and we all know that fair can get pretty hot. So the Young Leaders were really excited to hang that up in the livestock office. But also at (the county) fair they supported the candid photographer. We had T’s Takes come and take pictures at the fair and they paid for that. But also just different projects that they do around the community and such, they are able to support it with these funds.”

One-half dozen of chocolate covered strawberries are $10 or $20 for a dozen. Orders must be submitted by Tuesday. People can then pick up their orders on February 13th from 6-7:30pm or on Valentine’s Day from 9am-4:30pm at the Greene County Extension Office. Orders can be placed with a Greene County 4-H Young Leader or by contacting the Extension Office in Jefferson at 515-386-2138.
