The West Central Valley Basketball teams traveled to Madrid to take on the Tigers. The girls were able to come away with a victory, but the boys fell short to the Tigers, 72-38. The Wildcat boys defense could not contain the Tigers, as they allowed 25 points in the first quarter, while only scoring 11. The Wildcats would contain the Tigers in the second quarter, holding them to 15 points but were held to 9 points themselves. Going into the second half, with the score at 40-20, the Wildcats bounced back and scored 10 points in the third, but allowed 18. The Wildcats would not give up however, scoring 8 points in the fourth quarter while allowing 14 to fall short to the Tigers, 72-38.
The Wildcat girls would add another notch into the win column this season as they vanquished the Tigers, 45-29. The game was neck and neck in the first, but the Wildcats snuck ahead 7-6. Ahead by only 1 point going into the second, the game would remain close as the Wildcats were able to score 9 while holding the Tigers to 6 points again. With the score at 16-12 going into the second half, both teams would explode in the third quarter with the Wildcats scoring 20 points and the Tigers scoring 15 of their own. The damage would be solidified in the fourth quarter however, as the Wildcats scored 9 more points while only allowing 2.
The Wildcat boys fall to 7-13 while the girls move up to 10-9. Both teams prepare to host the Woodward-Granger Hawks on Tuesday.
