A statewide organization held its annual grant award ceremony in Jefferson.

The Iowa Women’s Foundation had its Western Iowa Grant Awards Reception at The Centennial in Jefferson. The non-profit organization was founded in 1994 and continues to be the only statewide organization with its goal of enhancing and improving women’s economic self-sufficiency in a comprehensive way. 

In the last 25 years, the IWF has given $1.68 million to more than 300 organizations across Iowa that have improved women’s lives in all 99 counties. The city of Jefferson was chosen as one of four regional sites for grant awards, including Iowa City, northeast Iowa, and Des Moines.
