Due to inclement weather, a youth competition was postponed to this Saturday.

The Northwest District Elks Hoop Shoot Contest will be held in Jefferson at the Greene County Middle School. This competition is for the winners from the local level of the area Elks Lodges in the gender and age divisions from 8-13 year olds will participate for the right to move onto the state contest.

Jefferson Elks Lodge #2306 announced the local winners included Blake Gierstorf for the 8-9 year old boys and Lyndsie Goughnour for the 8-9 year old girls. The 10-11 year old boys champion was Keegan Minnihan and for the 10-11 year old girls, it was Karen Johnston. Jaxon VanCannon was the 12-13 year boys winner and the 12-13 year old girls champion was Edynn Smith. 

A winner is determined by who can shoot the best of 25 free throw attempts. Registrations on Saturday start at 9:30am and the contest will begin at 10am. The state contest will be held on February 17th at Indian Hills Community College.
