The West Central Valley Wildcat Basketball teams took on Glidden-Ralston for a Wildcat showdown. The West Central Valley girls were able to come out on top, winning 42-23 with the Wildcat defense really making a difference in this contest. West Central Valley came out of the gates hot, scoring 12 while only allowing 3 in the first, and would continue to keep the clamps on Glidden-Ralston holding them to 3 points in the second again. West Central Valley would mirror their first quarter during the third, scoring 12 points but allowing 8. Although West Central Valley’s defense would slip again in the fourth allowing 9 points, the damage by their offense was already done, as they scored 14 points of their own to win 42-23.

For the boys Wildcats showdown, the odds would not go in West Central Valley’s favor as they fell short to Glidden-Ralston 59-52. Both teams went back and forth in the first, but West Central Valley inched ahead as the score was 20-19 going into the second quarter. Gliddon-Ralston would take the momentum however and score 10 points while holding West Central Valley to 7, making it a 2 point game going into the half, 29-27. West Central Valley would fight back in the third scoring 10 points this effort would not be enough however, as they were still down by 1 going into the fourth quarter. West Central Valley would not be able to answer Gliddon-Ralston however, as they were held to only 15 points to come out short 59-52.

The Wildcat girls move up to 7-8 while the boys fall to 5-10. Both teams prepare to host the ACGC Chargers on Tuesday for Senior Night. Tip off is at 6:15.
