After a packed first month for 2024, February is a little slower for the Mary J Barnett Memorial Library.
Library Director Jerri Hawkisn says that they are hosting a Friends of the Guthrie Center Library meeting at 6:15pm on February 6th, and will be having two events in conjunction with the Guthrie County Iowa State University Extension and Outreach. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio the first is a Science, Technology, Engineering and Math program on February 12th at 3:30pm, and that they other is their monthly Lunch and Learn.
“You’re going to be learning strategies to save money on food expenses and incorporate new ideas into menu planning and food shopping while exploring ‘Spend Smart, Eat Smart,’ and they’re going to enjoy a Valentine themed snack and explore some tasty, economical meals and snack recipes and plans.”
Hawkins mentions that this month’s Lunch and Learn will be on Valentine’s Day at noon. She adds that they will also have their regular cribbage and bridge classes at 9am on Monday and Wednesday respectively, and their Friday Story Hours every week at 10am.
