The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Girls Basketball team shows resilience after almost overcoming a 15-point deficit but fall short to Carroll.
It was a battle of the Tigers Monday night in Carroll as this game was finally played 20 days after its original scheduled date of January 9th. Carroll jumped out in the first quarter, leading 15-8, which was the same deficit that ADM trailed on Friday’s win against Boone. The difference was 27 points scored in the second quarter, but only five were scored in the second last night, as they held Carroll to six for a 21-13 advantage for Carroll.
The third saw Carroll grow their lead to 15 as they lead 31-16 at one point. Resilience, plus some great three point shooting from Senior Aubrey Winter got the Tigers back within six, trailing 37-31 with three minutes to go. Big buckets were made in response by Carroll and they stretched it out to 10. Winter kept knocking down shots but the deficit never dipped under six. Some clutch free throws would give Carroll the 48-39 win.
Winter led the way for ADM with 15 points (four three pointers), Grace Montag had seven (7) and it was Madelyn Roundcount and Aniston Tollari both with four (4). For Carroll, they were led by Katelyn Aden, who tallied 12, Carly Menken with 10, and Olivia Rowedder finished with nine (9).
Carroll improves to 7-7 overall (5-6 Raccoon Valley Conference), while ADM drops to 6-10 record overall (4-7 RVC).
Carroll will be back in action tonight as they host Bondurant-Farrar, while ADM will have back to back games in Adel Thursday and Friday. Thursday will be host to Gilbert and Friday is Senior Night, as the Tigers battle the Wildcats of Carlisle.
Neither ADM game will be broadcast, due to coverage of Girls State Wrestling. The next ADM Tigers broadcast will be on Monday, February 5th in Ballard.
