The Iowa Street Wetland Project is one of three projects in the works by the city this year, along with the Frog Creek Restoration project and some 2024 Street Repairs. Perry City Administrator Sven Peterson iterates that the main goal with the project is to slow down storm water coming from the south. Peterson talks about complications that they have had in the past and some possible solutions.

“That’s caused some storm water backup issues in our storm sewers just from a capacity standpoint, so now we have a place that’s more…going to be more controlled for that storm water to be held and released at a more manageable rate for our current storm.”

Peterson thinks the city will have an advantage with having a couple of areas to hold the storm water before hitting the main storm sewer.
