Perry had five girls in action on Friday in Districts.  Two of the five qualified for the State Tournament later this week in Coralville.  Mercedes Ponce finished the day a perfect 3-0 to win the 105 weight class.  Julie Maylum fell in the championship match of 140.  She went 3-1 on the day to qualify after a second place finish.  Amelie Canales just missed out on qualifying with a fifth place finish.  She went 4-3 and was one spot away from making state in weight class 115.

Action begins on Thursday at Xtream Arena in Coralville at 10A.  The Raccoon Valley Radio Network will bring you coverage all day during the event.
