A bill meant to help with making sure Area Education Agency funds are being used properly has seen a lot of attention.

House Representative for District 23 Ray Sorensen says that many constituents not just of his own district, but across the state had concerns about the bill when it was first introduced. He adds that he spoke with many individuals from the education community, including the superintendents from his district, and heard their concerns on the bill. Many thought that it would take away funding from the AEA, which they didn’t want as they all make use of the AEA regularly.

Sorensen explains that after hearing from individuals from the AEA, schools, and from their constituents, legislators and even the governor herself realized that the bill landed heavier than anticipated. He reassures constituents that the bill is not going to be something that is rushed through, and that there will be several amendments to it to form it into what may or may not finally be adopted.
