A Des Moines man was arrested for an alleged drunk driving incident in Greene County.
According to court documents, on January 24th a Greene County Deputy was notified by dispatch at 7:33pm about a car crash from an iPhone and the driver was not responding. When the deputy arrived on scene in the 100 block of 110th Street in Churdan, a vehicle was found in a ditch and the driver, 30-year-old Noel Bartusek was found about 30 yards from the vehicle asleep on the snow.
Court documents show that the deputy woke Bartusek up and walked him back to his vehicle. The deputy had to help keep Bartusek upright and noticed a strong odor of alcohol on Bartusek. The suspect eventually admitted to consuming three beers in one hour and consented to a field sobriety test, which Bartusek failed. Bartusek then denied taking a breath test and was placed under arrest.
The deputy also found out that Bartusek was supposed to have an ignition interlock on his steering wheel, which the deputy could not find. Bartusek was charged with a Class D Felony for his third or subsequent offense for an OWI, and simple misdemeanors for operating a motor vehicle without ignition interlock device, failure to maintain control and no valid driver’s license. Bartusek was booked into the Greene County Jail. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
