In Friday night Rolling Valley Activities Conference basketball in Churdan, the CAM (Anita) Cougars won two games vs. Paton-Churdan. The final in the girls’ game was 58-18 and the boys’ contest went to CAM by a score of 65-44.
Freshman Alivya Smith scored all 18 points for the P-C girls, who trailed by 30-14 at halftime. Eva Steffenson and Kieca Nichols each had 16 points for CAM. The Cougars are ranked ninth in Class 1A by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union while the Rockets fell to 0-15.
The Rockets (1-15) were coming off their first win of the season on Thursday night vs. Boyer Valley (Dunlap), but weren’t able to win twice in a row at home. Cayden Stream scored 11 of his 12 points after halftime for P-C and Trevon Keely scored 10. Blaise Schilling scored all nine of his points in the second half, while Phoenix Hartman added seven points and Bryce Stephenson scored six. The Rockets made nine three-point shots. CAM was led by 16 points from Collin Bower.
