Greene County lost Heart of Iowa Activities Conference basketball games on Friday night in Nevada. Both games were heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com. Sophomore Becca Anderson made her varsity debut for the Rams and scored 20 points, just four short of what the team had averaged per game. The game was Anderson’s first on the varsity level after transferring from Paton-Churdan. Junior Emma Shipley scored 12 points on four three-point goals. Trailing by 11 points with time running short, Greene County got to within two points at 49-47 before the Cubs scored the last six points of the game. Nevada improved to 9-7 overall and 6-4 in the conference while the Rams are 0-14, 0-9.

Nevada shot the ball from three-point range excepyionally well in the boys’ game, going 16 of 31 including making eight of their first 12 from deep. The Cubs led 47-30 at halftime and built the lead to more than 35 points in the fourth quarter, which started the continuous clock. Jacob Kounsarouth had 30 points for the Cubs and he made seven three’s for the game, six of which were in the first half. The Rams had 16 points from Gabe Ebersole and 13 from Nathan Behne.
