The Panorama Basketball teams faced off against the Exira-EHK Spartans resulting in split decision. The Lady Panthers remain perfect after knocking off the Spartans 54-43. The first quarter was a tight battle, going back and forth, but the Panthers came out ahead 16-13. The Panthers kept the pressure on the Spartans as they went on to score 18 points in the second quarter while holding the Spartans to only 8 points. Senior Tyme Boettcher made an impressive deep three pointer to end the first half, The Lady Panthers kept their momentum high, scoring 12 more points in the third while only allowing 10. The third quarter came to a close with the Panthers and Spartans fighting for possession of the ball, which is a perfect example of how the contest was truly a battle. Although the Spartans scored 12 points in the fourth, the damage by the Panther offense was enough as they came out on top 54-43.
For the boys, the Wildcats and the Spartans went back and forth throughout the first quarter, as the teams would appear to be taking turns taking the lead. In nail-biting fashion the first quarter ended 12-11 in the Panthers favor as the Panthers pulled off a last minute block against the Spartans to hold on to the lead. However, the momentum shifted into the Spartans favor, as they were able to score 19 points to take a six point lead into the half. The Panthers could not seem to hold the Spartans at bay as the Spartans hit two crucial threes to end the second quarter to take the lead by 50-40. This ten point differential would be the deciding factor, although the Panthers were able to score an impressive 16 points their efforts would just fall short.
The Lady Panthers remain perfect going up to 17-0 while the boys fall to 10-7, Both teams play again on Monday against Martensdale-St Marys Blue Devils.
