Johnathan Thompson of Grand Junction has been an elite wrestler on the national youth circuit for some time, and he continues to climb the rankings. In the Dec. 28, 2023 Pound For Pound Rankings from You’re Not Safe (YNS) Thompson is ranked number three in the United State for youth wrestlers. The two boys ranked ahead of him are older than the Greene County seventh grader.

Thompson wrestles for Sebolt Wrestling Academy in Jefferson and he’s accustomed to winning one highly regarded National Tournament after another competing in recent months anywhere from 70 to 77 lbs. In Thompson’s last 47 matches, according to the website Track Wrestling, he’s 47-0 with seven falls, 26 technical falls, and 10 major decisions.
