Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Girls Basketball team competed hard against one of the best teams in Iowa last night, showing improvement.

The North Polk Comets came out on the winning end against ADM, 68-35 but the Tigers only scored 20 points in their last match vs. them on December 12th. North Polk led the whole way, jumping out to a 15-0 lead before a Madelyn Roundcount three pointer got ADM on the board. The Comets held a 24-10 advantage after the first quarter, affecting the Tigers with aggressive defense, particularly from Jada Podey who recorded a good amount of steals.

North Polk saw their lead grow to 20 in the second quarter before ADM sparked a 10-0 run, inching them back into the game trailing 32-22 about halfway through the period. However, the Comets had a couple of baskets and nice assists from Junior Abby Tuttle, who led all in scoring with 15 points. North Polk ended the second quarter on a 12-0 run to take a 44-22 lead into halftime.

The third quarter belonged to the Comets outscoring the Tigers 18-6 before putting in most of the bench in the fourth. Other players who contributed from the Comets was Greta Dillinger, finishing with 13, Becca Aagard with eight, Podey, Lauren Ausborn, and Campbell Schulz all tallying seven.

For the Tigers, they were led by Kelli Storck who had 12 points, Roundcount totaled nine, and Aniston Tollari captured five.

North Polk improves to 14-2 overall (11-0 Raccoon Valley Conference) while ADM falls to 5-9 overall (3-6 RVC). Next games for the Comets will be on Thursday in Carlisle and for the Tigers, they will return home for the first time in three weeks on Friday, hosting Boone.

The ADM game will be broadcasted on K1079, beginning at 6pm.
