Earlier this week, the votes came in for the Republicans choosing their next candidate in the Raccoon Valley Listening Area.
The Democratic Perry precincts were held at the McCreary Building Monday evening. The Democrats did not have to choose a candidate because President Joe Biden will be seeking reelection. However, the Perry precincts chose a slate of delegates while Monica Peitz led the discussion as she was elected as the Democratic Chair. Rita Ridler was voted as the Democratic Secretary.
The First County Party Committee meeting will be on Monday and the First County Convention will convene on March 23rd.
As for Republicans, they were poised to choose their candidate. Here are the top three candidates from Dallas, Greene, and Guthrie Counties.
Dallas County was led by former President Donald Trump earning 39% of the votes, Nikki Haley second with 26.6%, and Ron DeSantis third at 25%.
Trump dominated Greene County receiving 56.3% of the votes, followed by DeSantis at 18.3%, and Haley at 16.4%.
For Guthrie County, Trump collected 55.6%, Haley gathered 18.5%, and DeSantis ended up with 17.5%.
