The Perry Community School District held a Special Board of Education meeting on Friday to discuss the reopening of the schools after the January 4th tragedy.

The School Board began with a moment of silence for the loss of Perry High School Principal Dan Marburger. Superintendent Clark Wicks introduced three teachers from other school districts that will be helping at the elementary, middle, and high school. The board approved a temporary administrator contract that will bring Jill Anderson, the principal from Norwalk Elementary School to serve at Perry High School. Superintendent Wicks did mention that this decision will be funded by the state.

The board also approved the dates for the return to school. The Elementary school will return on Wednesday, January 24th beginning at 7:45am. The middle school will return on Thursday, January 25th at 7:30am, and the high school will come back the following week on Wednesday, January 31st, starting at 7:30am.

Board President Linda Andorf detailed that students cannot linger around the school 15 minutes beforehand or 15 minutes after the final bell. For safety reasons, President Andorf said that students from each school can enter and exit through certain entrances. For the elementary, students will use the west door, middle school will use the main middle school entrance, and high school will utilize the main high school entrance.
