Jefferson city crews worked countless hours this past weekend during the several inches of snowfall and blizzard conditions.
Public Works Director Dave Morlan had snow removal crews out as early as 3am most of the time to start clearing the roadways. He says one of the challenges was the blowing snow that would come in right after the plows had cleared the roadways and block them back up with snow. Another challenge was navigating around abandoned and stranded vehicles across town. Morlan points out there was a consistent ten foot high snow drift on Central Avenue to the point where they had to close a portion of that road near the water tower.
Mayor Craig Berry had this to say about everyone helping out and the work that the crews put in during some dangerous weather conditions.
“I think they did a great job. I’d say kuddo(s) to Dave Morlan and his snow removal team. They were out 3 o’clock in the morning doing stuff trying to keep the roads open. They were passable. I think they did a great job.”
The Jefferson Police Department issued only three snow parking violation tickets from Friday, January 12th through Sunday, January 14th.
