The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors met in regular session Tuesday.
The Board appointed Supervisor JD Kuster as the 2024 Board Chair, and Supervisor Maggie Armstrong as the 2024 Vice Chair. They also approved a payroll change notice for Stacey Harris-Molina for Helping Opportunities for Parents to Experience Success (HOPES), paid holidays for 2024, to keep meeting times as Tuesdays at 9am for regular sessions and Thursdays at 9am for budget sessions through the end of March.
The Board then approved the Stuart Herald Newspaper and Central Iowa Gazette as the official county papers, and annual appointments for over 20 boards/councils/commissions. They also approved resolutions appointing members for the 2024 compensation commission, authorizing Auditor Dani Fink to pay fixed charges and other claims per Iowa code, giving County Engineer Josh Sebern right of final acceptance and a construction evaluation resolution, which provides a master matrix for large animal confinement operations.
The Board approved the installation of a new door access system for the Public Health building, including two doors on the east side of the building, and using an extension of the same system that was approved to be installed in the courthouse. Information Technology Director Brian Hoffman told the Board that thanks to a grant covering the vast majority of the cost to install hardware and software, the total cost for the 10 year contract would only be $691, and would be covered by his department.
