We have new information regarding Thursday morning’s incident at Perry High School.

Following a press conference at 10am near the high school, Dallas County Sheriff Adam Infante informed everyone that they were first notified of the incident around 7:37am.

“We received a serious radio activation at the high school, which indicated an active shooter situation. An officer first arrived within seven minutes that activation and located multiple gunshot victims.”

Infante adds that they have identified the shooter and that there is no further danger to the public.

Raccoon Valley Radio spoke with Jack Shelley who is the father of Zander and is a sophomore at Perry High School. Jack tells Raccoon Valley Radio he received a text from his son that he got shot while walking through a hallway getting ready for school. He recalls what initially ran through his mind after he got his son’s text.

“I was at work and I immediately freaked out. I mean, I told the guy who was with me, ‘You got to get me back to my truck now. I got to get to Perry. It’s the most scared I’ve been my whole life, man.”

Jack comments on what he was feeling once he saw his son after he had been released from the school.

“First thing I did when I got out and saw him was give him a big hug.”

Several law enforcement, fire and first responders were on scene. There is no school at Perry School District today or tomorrow. Another press conference is planned for this afternoon and KDLS will carry it live.
