The 2024 portion of Greene County High School’s wrestling season began on Tuesday in Greenfield. Host Nodaway Valley, Lenox, Martensdale-St. Mary’s, and the Rams took part in a quadrangular with Greene County going 1-2 in the dual meets. Coach Kirk Davis’ Rams are now 7-7 on the season and will be in Saturday’s Rollin Dyer Invitational at Atlantic High School.
Greene County opened with a 48-31 loss to the host Wolverines, followed by losing to MSM 40-33 before the night closed with a 57-15 victory over Lenox.
Rams going 3-0 in Greenfield were Jaron Jacobs (106), Gavin Scheuermann (157), and Brent Dennhardt (165). Brennan Jacobs (113) and Jacob Harmeyer (126) were both 1-0. All three wins by Scheuermann were by fall and two of the three were against 2023 State Tournament qualifiers. Scheuermann has qualified for State Tournaments all three years of high school. Greene County wrestlers that were 2-1 on Tuesday include Gavyn Winters (113/120), Crew Conner (138), Zeke Binkley (144), Jackson Turner (150), and Marcus Ball (215).
