There’s still time to nominate individuals or groups for a prestigious honor.
The Greene County Fine Arts Hall of Fame is seeking nominations for its second induction class. When considering to submit a nomination, the potential inductee must be a graduate from Greene County, Jefferson, Jefferson-Scranton, Scranton, or East Greene and must have participated in a Greene County sanctioned activity, and must be an Iowa High School Music Association or Iowa High School Speech Association sanctioned activity.
The other criteria that is used for selections include being part of an all-state music ensemble or all-state speech, a solo/small ensemble festival outstanding performer, multiple superior festival ratings, placing first in jazz band or jazz choir at their respective state championships, among others. Another category for nominees is in visual arts with receiving a state level award, recognition for a career in visual arts, and being a major contributor to community arts.
There is also an Elite Fine Arts Sponsor Hall of Fame and some of those criteria includes directing individuals and ensembles that win speech banners, receiving superior large group ratings over 90 percent of the time, consistently above average all-state festival participants, among others.
The deadline to submit a nomination is by January 5th and the ceremony will take place in March. Nominations can be submitted to the Greene County Activities Office at the high school. Click the link below to access a nomination form.
