A safety program meant to help bring down traffic fatalities over the holidays is still in place.
Iowa State Patrol Trooper Shelby McCreedy reminds drivers that both state and local law enforcement have increased numbers on patrol at the moment, in an attempt to discourage distracted driving, and driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. She mentions that for 2023, the number of traffic fatalities is up from last year, and is even beating the average of the last five years. McCreedy asks that everyone please be safe, and smart, and don’t drink and drive.
