The Perry community is once again coming together for an annual Christmas Day tradition.
The free Christmas Day Dinner will be held at the Perry Elks Lodge from 11am-1:30pm. Co-organizer Larry Meacham tells Raccoon Valley Radio they have served typically between 325-425 people since the inaugural year in 2006. The meal will consist of pork loin, turkey, and ham; along with mashed potatoes and gravy, rolls, stuffing and green bean casserole. He points out various churches and other individuals donate different salads and desserts.
Meacham is appreciative of the area businesses and corporations that also donate food to make this program possible every year, along with the volunteers that help on Christmas Day. He says people can dine-in, carry-out or have their meal delivered. Meacham encourages anyone who wants to have a meal to call the Perry Elks Lodge at 515-465-3791.
