The Perry School Board met Monday night in regular session.
The meeting started with the retiring board accepting the canvass of votes from the school board election on November 7th. Following that, the organizational meeting took place. The oaths of offices were conducted for the three individuals who were elected to the school board. Those individuals included incumbent Linda Andorf, Max Christensen and Joseph Tuhn. Then elections for board president and vice president were held and Andorf was re-elected as president and Eddie Diaz will serve as vice president.
The Board then approved to keep the same time and location for regular board meetings on the second Monday of the month at the Brady Library. They also approved authorized account signers on the Raccoon Valley Bank accounts, board committee assignments, and they appointed Andorf to be the representative on the Dallas County Conference Board and the Iowa Association of School Boards delegate.
Additionally, the Board approved purchasing a school bus for $155,000 from International, along with several second readings of policies including discipline of students who make threats of violence or cause incidents of violence, drug and alcohol testing written consent, revisions to other board policies, June primer policies, and the purchasing, bidding, suspension, and debarment of vendors and contractors procedures as presented. They also approved six early graduation requests, moving the March board meeting to March 4th, an educational services contract with Metro West Learning Center for one additional student, and two School Budget Review Committee requests. Those included authorization to spend $493,221 for increasing enrollment and $172,627 for English Language Learners for beyond five years as presented.
