Perry defeated Boone 55-40 Tuesday night in the season opener from the Boone Gymnasium. The Bluejays turned the game around in the second half, outscoring Boone 37-14 to win pulling away.
The Toreadors controlled the tempo in the first half, slowing the game down and relying on a hot start shooting the ball. Perry increased their halfcourt intensity in the third quarter and found their stroke from the perimeter. Zander Mahler cashed three 3-pointers while Drake Levan and Owen Myers went a combined 10-10 from the foul line in the second half. Geren Kenney led the offense with 16 points including 10 in the first half.
Boone went six and a half minutes without a point in the third quarter.
