nathan-behne-2

Earlier this week the Iowa Football Coaches Association/Iowa Print Sportswriters Association released its All-State Football teams. Greene County had Jack Hansen on the Class 2A first team as an offensive utility player and Nathan Behne was on the second team as the kicker. Both are seniors. We focused on Hansen yesterday and today the focus is on Behne.

Moving up from the third All-State team after last season, Behne went six of nine on field goal attempts and four of his makes were from 39, 42, 44, and 49 yards. The 49 yarder the longet in program history. He had 25 touchbacks on 43 kickoffs and he made 25 extra point kicks with his only misses being blocked kicks. Among 2A kickers, Behne ranked first for the longest field goal made, the number of field goals made, and  second in field goal percentage among those with five or more attempts.

His 49 yarder was on grass, as were most of his field goals. Only the Class 5A kicker from Bettendorf had a longer field goal in the entire state regardless of size of school.
