The Greene County Board of Supervisors met on Monday in regular session.
The Board canvassed the votes from Boone County that related to the Greene County School District for the November 7th election. There were a total of four votes that were counted that did not change the outcome of the overall Greene County School Board and the voter-approved Physical Plant and Equipment Levy (PPEL) elections. Next, the Board approved a resolution for revisions to the county general assistance policy as presented.
Additionally, the Board approved hiring Renee Bandurski as a full time jailer for the Greene County Sheriff’s Office with an annual salary of $47,000 effective December 4th, along with a tax increment financing indebtedness certificate to use $1.6 million to pay towards debt for the career academy for the 2025 fiscal year.
Finally, the Board held a discussion to possibly change the revenue purpose statement for Local Option Sales and Services Tax (LOSST). This would be one possible funding source to repay debt incurred on financing for the remaining portion of an HVAC project on the courthouse. The Board talked about changing the LOSST revenue purpose statement to read “100% for any lawful purpose” from “100% for rural property tax relief and any other lawful purpose of the County.” The special election would be for individuals in the unincorporated parts of the county.
Before a special election could be held, a resolution would need to be passed by both the county and the city of Jefferson. Due to two supervisors being absent, there was no action taken by the Board following the discussion.
