Even though the girls’ basketball season opener didn’t go the way Greene County had hoped, three-point shooting was certainly a highlight. The Rams went six of 15 beyond the arc in the 54-31 loss on Tuesday night at Woodward vs. Woodward-Granger. They were 12 of 39 shooting overall, so just six of 24 on two-point shots.
Junior Emma Shipley made a trio of three-point shots and she was the high scorer in the game with 12 points. Sophomore Kaycee Pittman had two three-point goals and freshman Sara Morlan had one.
It was just one game, but the points scored and shooting percentages were much better than last season when the Rams had a 1-21 record. Coach Tori Ogden’s team will try to get in the win column on Monday in Ogden as the front end of a girl/boy doubleheader on KG98 and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com. Coverage starts at 5:45 p.m. with the girls’ game starting at 6 o’clock, followed by the boys.
