Today is known as “Giving Tuesday” and the Greene County Medical Center Foundation is reminding everyone about an opportunity to do just that.
The foundation is underway with its Greene Backer Campaign, which raises funds for the departments of the medical center on a continuing basis. Foundation Director Nancy Houska says the most recent donation was in support of the Pain Clinic. She points out the Pain Clinic has seen an increase in the number of days that patients are being treated by more than 63-percent and increasing pain relieving procedures by over 123-percent. Houska notes because of the generosity of the donors, additional services will be added this fiscal year, including migraine, neck and back pain treatments.
Another example of using Greene Backer Campaign funds was last year with the purchase of an Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EDG) scope, which is a long, flexible tube capped with a camera to examine the esophagus, stomach and upper portion of the small intestine.
Individuals who would like to make a donation on Giving Tuesday can contact Houska at 515-386-0108, email her at nancy.houska@gcmchealth.com or through their mobile app bit.ly/GreeneBacker or texting GREEENEBACKER to 4144.
