An Adair – Casey / Guthrie Center High School student recently received a prestigious award.

Senior Payton Jacobe was awarded the Iowa Banker’s Scholarship from the Iowa Bankers Association. Activities Director Taylor Morris tells Raccoon Valley Radio that there are different characteristics that the Bankers Association looks for, and how Jacobe fits the requirements for the award.

“Obviously he exemplifies all those characteristics, both on and off the field, in the community, within the school district. And obviously, he’s somebody who’s a hard worker, and that’s just something that goes a long way in the process as well. They see what he’s involved in and activities and different things he does around the school and the community, and that plays a portion of it as well. So there’s a lot of different ways that you can get qualified for that, and he is about as active as you can be in about every single way you can be that way.”

Morris shares that the reason the award is so prestigious, is that it’s only given to individuals who at least reach the quarterfinals in the postseason for football, and only one student/athlete per class receives it, meaning that only seven individuals each year earn the award. He adds that the school district is excited for Jacobe, and proud of what he’s done throughout his high school career that helped him earn the award.
