A reminder that tonight will be the Iowa High School Music Association’s All-State Music Festival concert in Ames.

Perry High School junior Olivia Christensen auditioned on oboe and made it in for the orchestra. While she has never performed on the oboe in an orchestra before, she says she is excited for tonight’s concert.

“I look a lot forward to playing with a bigger ensemble because I have done honor bands with other schools that we get nominated for and some that you audition for, but this is the highest level of honor band that a high school student can participate in. So it’s exciting to know that everyone I’m playing with are top musicians, like the top musicians in Iowa. And it’s also exciting knowing that we’re playing more complicated music, which I think is just more fulfilling once you put it all together.”

The concert is tonight at Iowa State University in Ames.
