The Perry Fire Department is letting the public know about an upcoming controlled burn within the city limits.

Fire Chief Grason Hill tells Raccoon Valley Radio the fire department will be at a controlled burn at 1724 2nd Street on Monday, November 20th at 5:30pm. Chief Hill talks about the details of what will be happening that evening.

“We do have a house that the city acquired and it was a big old, rundown home and so they (city crews) came in and they demolished it into a pile. We’re going to go in there, and there really is no training involved in this, but we’re going to set our trucks up and stuff and burn this piled up structure so it all burns down into the basement. And that’s to help the city out and cleaning things up and stuff.”

According to city staff, with the fire department on scene, the burn will not harm surrounding structures and while smoke and fire might be seen by the public, no one will need to notify law enforcement.
