The AC/GC Chargers boys and girls basketball teams are getting fired up for the start of the regular season, and looking to their seniors for strong leadership.
On the boys team, four seniors return from last year’s team. Anthony Solorzano started in 24 of the team’s 25 games, with a 34.6% field goal percentage, 29% three point percentage, and 86.7% free throw percentage. He also pulled down a combined 76 rebounds, had 58 assists, 30 steals, 1 block, and scored 161 points. Lance Bunde started in all the team’s games, recording a 42.7% field goal percentage, 37.2 three point percentage and 66.7% three point percentage. He also tallied 148 total boards, 74 assists, 51 steals, 13 blocks and 316 points.
Carter Neff played in 9 of the team’s games, shooting 50% from the field and from behind the arch. He also recorded a rebound, 3 assists and 6 points. Nate Chance was one of the team’s 6th men, being one of the first to come off the bench when needed. He recorded a 52.8% field goal percentage, 27.3% three point percentage and 25% free throw percentage. Chance also secured 43 rebounds, 12 assists, 9 steals, 6 blocks and 42 points.
The girls team also returns four seniors. Emerson Van Meter played in 22 of the team’s 23 games, putting up a field goal percentage of 29.3%, a three point percentage of 39.5%, and a free throw percentage of 43.8%. She also recorded 28 overall rebounds, 5 assists, 22 steals, 2 blocks and 56 points. Kelsey Carlson started in all the team’s games, finishing the season with a field goal percentage of 29%, three point percentage of 27.3% and free throw percentage of 64%. She also tallied 47 total rebounds, 17 assists, 58 steals, 3 blocks and 143 points.
Reagan Carney also started in all 23 games for the Chargers, with a field goal percentage of 32.9%, three point percentage of 26.3% and free throw percentage of 70.8%. She recorded 132 rebounds, 21 assists, 43 steals, 4 blocks and 137 points. Macy Schreck is the final returning senior for the Chargers, playing in all 23 games and putting up a field goal percentage of 20% and a free throw percentage of 53.8%. She also tallied 37 rebounds, 8 assists, 13 steals, 16 blocks and 30 points.
