The Guthrie Center City Council met in regular session Monday.

The Council approved building permits for the 500 block of North Street, the 100 block of North 8th Street and the 700 block of Grand Street, along with a fencing permit for the 700 block of North 5th Street. They also approved the first reading to amend an ordinance to include a stretch of South 12th Street as a no parking zone, and annual appointments to the Board of Adjustment.

The Council heard from Mayor Mike Herbert about the Mitchell Park Lighting Committee, as current members are looking at retiring from the Board in the near future, and they are looking for assistance from the City to find members to replace them. City Clerk Kris Arrasmith shared the compliance officer’s report, before Public Works Superintendent Darin Sloss mentioned that a new tarp had been installed to cover the salt/sand hoop building, and new concrete pads were poured at the league field.

Arrasmith then gave the City Hall report, in which she said the electric sign has a new computer, and congratulated the mayor and three council members who were reelected in the recent school/city elections, and shared that they would be sworn in in December.
