The West Central Valley Wildcats girls wrestling team had their 2023 season debut last night in the Valkyrie Open at Nodaway Valley High School. The Wildcats finished tied for 5th overall in the open with 92 total points with Martensdale-St. Mary’s. Red Oak, Western Iowa, SWAT Valkyrie, and Creston were the teams who finished above West Central Valley in the invite. Lillow Ray had an impressive first meet as she placed in 1st place overall in the 140 pound weight class. Bella Cosner finished in 4th place in the 110 weight class. That was after she fell to Harmony Jones of Martensdale-St. Mary’s in the 3rd place match. Ori Meyers finished in 4th in the 125 weight class and Rhowen Miller finished in 4th as well in the 135 weight class for West Central Valley. Gracie Sloss also took 4th in weight class 235.

It was a strong first outing of the season for the Wildcats on the mats. They will look to take this momentum going forward into the Southwest Valley Girls Wrestling tournament on Saturday.
