An Illinois man was killed in a hunting incident on Saturday in Guthrie County.

According to Iowa Department of Natural Resources Conservation Officer Jeremy King, Seth Egelhoff, 26 years old of Chesterfield, Illinois died in an incident at the Bays Branch Wildlife Area in Guthrie County that is still under investigation by the Iowa DNR Law Enforcement Bureau. King states that the Guthrie County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched after receiving an emergency call around 1pm.

The personnel from the sheriff’s department, Panora Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and the Iowa State Patrol arrived on scene, and Panora EMS began transporting Egelhoff to an area accessible to Life Flight. Lifesaving measures were given en route, but were unsuccessful, and he was pronounced deceased shortly after leaving the scene of the incident.

Bays Branch Wildlife Area remains open for public use while the Iowa DNR Law Enforcement Bureau continues its investigation. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring more information as it becomes official.
