According to Adair – Casey / Guthrie Center Superintendent Josh Rasmussen, this fall has been a great time to be an AC/GC Charger.

Rasmussen shares that the school’s fall athletics teams have done a phenomenal job of representing the school, and that the students have put in a lot of hard work. He explains that the cross country teams were highly successful all season, ending with a second place finish for the boys team, the second time in recent years that they’ve been the state runner up. Rasmussen tells Raccoon Valley Radio the girls cross country team and the volleyball team also performed on a high level.

“Then our girls improved and finished in fifth place, and that’s their best placing ever at the state meet. So just excited for cross country and Coach Shawgo, and the work that those kids have done throughout the year, and ended up in a great place. And then our volleyball team made it to the regional final and they took on a juggernaut in Dike-New Hartford, number one, probably team in the state of Iowa overall.”

Rasmussen is also proud of the football team and how hard they worked to get to where they did in the postseason, sharing that they had worked their way to a state quarterfinal appearance against an equally hard working Madrid team. The AC/GC football team played a close game against Madrid, but ultimately fell before making it to the UNI-Dome.
