With the state qualifying meet now tommorow at Ames High School for the Perry Jayettes, I had a chance to sit down with Quinn-Mahler Moreno who has been one of the top swimmers for Perry all year long, about her keys to success before every meet this season, that she can take into the state qualifier tommorow afternoon. She said the support of her town, head coach, and teammates are the biggest things that motivate her going into every meet.

“One of the biggest things that motivates me is just knowing that I have my team and Jean and my whole town behind me supporting me and that motivates me to push myself as hard as I can,” Mahler-Moreno said.

She said building the excitement before each meet with her teammates  is something that makes her even motivated to perform well.

“Before every meet it’s just really important for me and my teammates to get excited and get ready to be competitive against the other team. That has done a lot for how I perform with just having a good atmosphere and a competitive spirit,” Mahler-Moreno said.

So what about a pregame ritual before every meet?

“Before every meet when were getting ready to swim and do warmups, we always put on a really hype playlist and I always sing and dance and jump around and everyone on the team can attest to that,” Mahler-Moreno said.

The state qualifier will begin at Noon tomorrow. Stay tuned on KDLS, KG98.9 and K 107.9 for updates as well as our website at raccoonvalleyradio.com.
