A Jefferson resident recently earned an award for her work with Greene County youth.
Greene County ISU Extension 4-H and Youth Coordinator Samantha Hardaway received the Achievement in Service Award. This award is given to individuals who have three or less years in their position with the 4-H program and who have made a difference in a short amount of time. Greene County Extension Director Lori Mannel says Hardway is a tremendous asset for the area youth in the county. Mannel points out that in almost two years with Extension, Hardaway has increased 4-H membership in 4th-12th graders by 30 percent and 83 percent for Clover Kids who are in 1st-3rd grade.
Mannel appreciates Hardaway’s tireless effort to conduct youth workshops to help increase participation in different areas of Clover Kids and 4-H for the county fair and livestock projects, and they are fortunate to have her enthusiasm and leadership.
Hardaway received the award at the Iowa 4-H YouthFest Professional Development Conference on the campus of Iowa State University in Ames from October 23rd-25th.
