There’s only a couple days left to vote early for the city and school board elections.

Greene County Auditor Billie Jo Hoskins says as of Thursday morning, 357 people had voted early. She points out the time period to request an absentee ballot to be mailed has passed and of those that were mailed, only eight have not been returned. Hoskins notes the last day for those absentee ballots to be submitted to the Greene County Auditor’s Office is by 8pm on Election Day for their vote to count.

There are a few contested elections in Greene County. The Paton City Council has five people running for three seats and the mayoral race for Rippey is also contested with two candidates running. Additionally, the Greene County School Board has three candidates for two seats and the Jefferson City Council has four people running for two seats. Jefferson City Administrator Scott Peterson remarks about having twice as many people running for city council than there are open seats.

“It does show interest in what’s happening in your community. Yeah, we’re very excited about the upcoming election and again just encourage everybody to get out there and make sure they vote.”

The last day to vote early in person in the east lobby of the Greene County Courthouse is Monday at 4:30pm. The polls will then be open on Tuesday from 7am-8pm.
