The Winterset Huskies finished in 6th overall in the state cross country meet over the weekend in Fort Dodge. The top two runners for the Huskies were both Colin Kessler for the boys and Morgan Sutton for the girls. Kessler came in 16th overall place in the race with a time of 16:19. Sutton finished in 24th with a time of 19:42:3. They both shared their thoughts after each of their races.
“I’m really happy with my performance, I PRed and I broke 20 which was one of my goals. I was really worried about the weather because it was quite chilly compared to the rest of the week but I think I run better in the cold anyway and so it really helped,” Sutton said.
“I’d say execution with me went pretty well. First of all, I could’ve been a little faster, and second mile I was looking to going a little faster too. The third mile I executed wonderfully and I felt good and going into that final stretch really opened up my legs,” Kessler said.
Congrats to these two on two great performances. They will look to carry that forward into next year.
