After the Tigers girls volleyball loss against North Scott in the state tournament, ADM Tigers volleyball head coach Trevor Irwin shared his perspective on the team’s journey, both the highs and the lows, as well as the promising future. Here’s what he had to say:

“It was awesome. You know, when we walked out, it was just under the lights. It was a great feeling. We took a second to soak it all in. We came here early, so we were ready to play. In the first game, we were lights out. We were putting the ball down everywhere. As we looked into the second, third, and fourth, we tallied up more errors than we wanted to. But it’s said and done, and we’re enjoying the entirety of the season, not just the last game.”

Looking forward, Coach Irwin shared his excitement for what’s to come, saying, “I don’t know if I have thought about it completely yet. I’m just soaking up this moment right now with all these girls. It was a phenomenal year with a great group of seniors. I’m excited for next year.”

He also expressed his hope that the athletes had a memorable experience, “You’re fighting with the whole team. I hope they had an amazing experience. Reflecting on this, it’s not every day that you get to come to the State volleyball tournament. So, looking back in the years to come, I hope they can say, ‘Wow, what a fun ride I had.’ My seniors have been phenomenal all year. We held them up to very high standards, and they met them.”

In the middle of the team’s journey, coach Irwin’s words reflect the appreciation of the whole season and maintaining high standards for the future.
