Greene County residents that haven’t paid their first half of property taxes are being notified.

Greene County Treasurer Katlynn Mechaelsen tells Raccoon Valley Radio property owners who still owe their payment of property taxes have been delinquent for the month of October and have incurred a 1.5-percent penalty in addition to their taxes due. She says notifications are being sent out to those households before November 1st to pay them and the penalty before another 1.5-percent penalty is assessed on November 1st. 

Mechaelsen recently said at a Greene County Supervisors meeting that there was still over $300,000 in property taxes left to be collected for the first half payment that was due by October 1st. She mentioned that about 55-percent of the total property taxes in the county have been collected, some of that is because some property owners choose to pay both halves of taxes by October 1st.
