With the winter months fast approaching, the number of outdoor events are starting to thin out.

Iowa Department of Natural Resources Interpretive Naturalist and Educator Anne Riordan says that there are still some events that she has planned at Springbrook State Park. She mentions that the next event on her calendar is a Color Hike at the park, where participants will start at the gazebo and take a hike to admire the fall colors on the trees. Riordan tells Raccoon Valley Radio about some of the smaller events that are already planned as well.

“I’ve got some other things that school groups are still coming out to do, and homeschool groups and things like that. And I will definitely pop up some more programs, especially as the snow gets there.”

Riordan explains that the snow makes a great medium for tracking classes, and that she enjoys including skiing and snowshoeing programs as well. She mentions that in the past, she has also led frozen water safety programs.
